Red Hat Summit 2025: 3 Key Takeaways

Held in Boston this year, Red Hat Summit was a landmark event offering a deep dive into the latest advancements in open-source technology. As a proud Canadian partner of Red Hat, we were excited to participate and witness firsthand the innovations that are set to transform enterprise IT.

In this post, we’ll summarize 3 key announcements from Summit and explore how these developments align with our mission to help businesses modernize IT infrastructure.

1. Virtualization & Hybrid Cloud Solutions

Red Hat’s SVP and Chief Product Officer, Ashesh Badani, highlighted the growing demand for virtualization and hybrid cloud solutions, noting significant growth in North America’s OpenShift Virtualization adoption.

Collaboration with Arctera

As a result, Red Hat announced an exciting new collaboration with Arctera, focused on enhancing OpenShift Virtualization by addressing a critical challenge: enterprise storage integration.

Traditional virtual machines (VMs) often rely on shared storage systems, which are not natively compatible with Kubernetes-based (K8s) architectures like OpenShift. This can slow down adoption for enterprises with legacy storage.

Arctera brings high-performance, container-aware enterprise storage that bridges this gap. Their solution makes it easier to run VMs alongside containers using a unified storage platform that supports both modern and legacy workloads.

  • HighVail is proudly an Arctera partner.

  • Seamless storage access across VMs and containers.

  • Better performance and lower latency for virtualized workloads.

  • Simplified operations with storage management designed for hybrid cloud.

Deeper Integration Between Ansible & Terraform

Red Hat announced a strengthened collaboration with HashiCorp, focusing on integrating Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) with Terraform. This integration allows users to leverage Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and Ansible for configuration management and application deployment, creating a cohesive IaC workflow across hybrid cloud environments.

  • HighVail is proudly a Hashicorp partner.

  • Enables secure management of secrets and credentials within automation workflows.

  • Ensures that sensitive information is handled securely across the infrastructure lifecycle.

Extra Insights

Red Hat and Arctera are enabling enterprises to modernize their virtualization strategies by unifying container and VM storage in OpenShift—making hybrid cloud adoption more practical and powerful.

As a Toronto-based Red Hat and Arctera partner, we specialize in understanding and supporting Canadian companies. Our team of experts offer customizable, ready-to-go reference architecture, plus local support to ensure a seamless migration from your legacy systems.

2. Advancements in AI & Machine Learning (ML)

During the keynote, Red Hat CEO Matt Hicks emphasized, “Open source at its core removed barriers. It just unlocked human potential worldwide. … AI can unlock human and business potential the same way open source did. Because, at its core, AI removes barriers.” Red Hat emphasized the expansion of AI assistance tools across its product line, ensuring stakeholders have direct access to insights and information when needed.

AI Inference Server

The Red Hat AI Inference Server is a scalable, container-based solution designed to streamline and accelerate the deployment of machine learning models into production. Built on Red Hat OpenShift, it simplifies the process of serving AI models at scale by offering an enterprise-ready platform that integrates with common ML frameworks. This enables organizations to run inference workloads efficiently across hybrid cloud environments while maintaining consistency, security, and operational control.

  • Red Hat AI Inference Server Simplifies and accelerates generative AI deployment.

  • AI Inference Server enables scalable AI deployment, crucial for data-driven industries.

3. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 (RHEL 10)

At Summit 2025, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 (RHEL 10) was unveiled, marking a significant advancement in enterprise Linux platforms. This release focuses on integrating AI, enhancing security, and streamlining hybrid cloud operations.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Lightspeed

RHEL Lightspeed is an AI-driven tool that integrates generative AI directly into the command line. This feature provides context-aware assistance, offering real-time guidance for tasks such as troubleshooting and scripting. It therefore addresses skill gaps and enhances operational efficiency.

Building on the integration of AI into automation workflows, Red Hat showcased additional advancements in Lightspeed, such as adding an AI-based virtual assistant. This AI-driven tool assists users in writing Ansible Playbooks more efficiently as it provides intelligent recommendations and content generation, to streamline your DevOps processes.

Security Enhancements

RHEL 10 introduces updates to Confidential Virtual Machines (CVMs) and a Zero-Trust workload identity manager in technology preview. These features aim to enhance data protection and access management in complex IT environments.

  • Provides a secure, scalable OS for small and medium businesses.

  • RHEL 10 addresses cybersecurity concerns.

  • RHEL Lightspeed will be especially helpful to organizations with limited IT resources optimize their workflows.
