HighVail Lends a Helping Hand!

Jan 14, 2015

As quoted by the late Maya Angelou, “When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.” She was a wise woman, and had great knowledge that she offered to the world. At HighVail, we not only think of our customers for whom we pass on our support, skill and experience, but the greater community as well.

Over the years, HighVail has been proud to sponsor several events and fundraising efforts, as well as providing financial and in-kind support to a variety of charitable causes. We aim to put a smile on the faces of our customers and feelelated when putting a smile on those less fortunate as well.

Most recently, HighVail had the honour of sponsoring a team of riders in the annual Becel Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart on June 1st of this year. With 14,000 participants closing the Don Valley Parkway the first Sunday of June annually, the ride brings hope and determination to leading a healthy life and living life to its fullest!

We were extremely proud to have had four members of HighVail (and one of their parents) participate in the ride this year. In addition to sponsoring Team HighVail, we also provided matching donations for each HighVail riders’ fundraising efforts.

On March 20th of this year, HighVail participated in the 4th Annual St. Baldrick’s Charity event. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation was originated off the idea of raising funds to sponsor individuals willing to shave their heads in support of childhood cancer.

This year, HighVail participated by sponsoring the event with cupcakes for all the attendee’s and supporting multiple “shavee’s” through donations and moral support. One large donation went in support of a shareholder of one of our competitors in the industry shaving his head. That camaraderie is evident in everything we do and support, competitors by day, but collaborators at night.

One cause HighVail was extremely proud to support is that of the parents ofHighVail’s CTO Krys Armatys. Barbara (Barracuda) and Victor (the Polish Torpedo) Armatys were champion swimmers back in their homeland of Poland. Having continued to train over the years, they decided to enter the 2014 Canadian Masters Swimming Championships, held from May 16th– 19th in Windsor, Ontario.  However, in order to participate, they needed a sponsor, so HighVail stepped up to help them attain their dream.

Not only did they qualify for the 15th FINA World Masters Championships, (to be held in Montreal, from July 27th – August 10th), they won their own divisions (with Victor setting a new Canadian record in his category). This of course is no surprise for them as both currently hold several Canadian records in multiple disciplines and have set records in their corresponding age groups in previous competitions. All of us at HighVail were proud to have sponsored Canadian athletes in their pursuit of competing to become champions!

With many events in the past, present, and future, HighVail is always open and anxious to lend a helping hand. We not only strive to provide the utmost kindness to our clientele, but also to the community we live and work in. Being good isn’t about proving it to others, it’s about proving it to yourself and we are proud to be good to those that rely on us and have a need or a problem we can help satisfy and solve.
