7 Tech Resolutions for 2015

With the start of the New Year many of us have a list of resolutions we aspire to achieve. From eating right, working out regularly and saving, money the list can go on and on. The New Year is also a great time to make some tech resolutions. In todays world the average person can spend up to 11 hours (1) on digital media a day. Since so much time is spent on digital devices why not improve our tech habits?

1. Use a password manager

Password managers are a great way to stay organized and keep track of all your passwords. Day to day the amount of accounts and passwords required will increase. If we don’t keep things recorded we will forget what password is for what platform or account.

2. Don’t end relationships digitally

More than half (56 per cent) of those who went through a break-up last year ended their relationship by means of technology. Although it may be hard to have that conversation in person, it is the right thing to do.Human interaction is more important than digital interaction and we must not forget that.

3. Clean your devices!

A study conducted in 2011 showed that keyboards have up to 5times more bacteria than toilet seats! (1) This might sound crazy but it’s true. Keep your devices clean by using some rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth.

4. Keep your software up to date

Although this can be a hassle, these updates will ensure that your devices run smooth. Pick a time once a month to devote yourself to updating these gadgets. You’ll be glad you did.

5. Delete old accounts

Your online presence is very important in today’s world in terms of your brand and how you market yourself or your business. If you created an account on a social media platform that you don’t use or update then you should delete it. This will help to keep your online presence fresh and up to date.

6. DE clutter your desktop

Although it is very easy to save files to your desktop, it can become very cluttered and will slow down your computer.Organizing your desktop will help you stay organized. Choose a photo you love as your desktop background to inspire you to be DE cluttered.

7. Clean up iCloud

Don’t keep junk on your iCloud.  ICloud was designed to keep everything in sync and by doing this it can sync old junk or files you don’t need.
